Working in a group you will produce a physical installation based around sound. You should consider the relationship between sound and space and also sound and person. Also consider how interactivity can be incorporated or experienced.
PROPOSAL
We as a group myself, Sarah Alyward, Timothy Stevens, Michael Wilkinson, Tracy Whitaker propose to create interactive sound and environmental art gallery for five separate images. The installation which will consist of five screens with five individual images picked by each member of the group and each member will use associated sounds for each of the images and props for each of images; the link between the each station will be the life and times of Hull.
RESEARCH
I began to research the link between sounds in an active environment by closing my eyes and to write down as many sounds i could identify. Then i applied the same principles but this time with my eyes open. What i found is that i looked for sounds also and i realised that my hearing must of gone down 50% through using my eyes as a visual aid my perception to hear was reduced dramatically.
PLANNING
The concept for my part of the group installation will be based on the a photograph from an unknown source of Person Park, West Hull in the 1930s, However i could not find a picture in relation to the time due to Hull Library moving premises and in doing so they archived all photos and where not accessible. I also contacted Hull Daily Mail but they could not help, So i decided to use a picture from the early 1900s. My part of installation will consist of one screen displaying the Person Park Picture and will cover environmental sounds that would make up what the environment would sound like.
